In Cuzco, the royal city was created to resemble a puma; the head, the main royal structure, formed what is now known as Sacsayhuaman.
The Creole rebellion of Huánuco arose in 1812 and the rebellion of Cuzco arose between 1814 and 1816.
Main naval battles fought were the Battle of Papudo in 1865, Battle of Abtao and Battle of Callao in 1866.

A year later Pizarro invaded Cuzco with indigenous troops and brought down Tahuantinsuyu (the Inca empire).
Pizarro's coffin in the [[Lima cathedral]] After the final effort of the Inca to recover Cuzco had been defeated by Almagro, a dispute occurred between him and Pizarro respecting the limits of their jurisdiction.
This led to battle; Almagro was defeated at the City of Ute (1538) and executed; but his supporters conspired, and assassinated Pizarro on June 26, 1541.

With a group of fifty men, he discovered an Inca road to the Inca Empire's capital in Cuzco, and became the first European to talk to the Sapa Inca Atahualpa when he preceded Pizarro to Cajamarca on their invasion march.
He disunited with Pizarro when the Andes were to be redistributed among the conquistadors, and when the Atahualpa was executed despite fulfilling his promise of filling a ransom room with gold and two with silver.
While the first part of the expedition's course, until the battle at Mabila, is only disputed in details, the meandering route of the later voyage remains largely unclear.
