Two more scenarios (Daras and Casilinum) were published in number 10 of Vae Victis, using the other two armies of the basic set (the first battle is Byzantinians against Persians, the second Byzantinians against Franks).
The armies are divided in two or more parts, each with a leader; at the start of each turn, a player rolls a die to see how many action points he has available for that commander and his units.
You have to learn the differences amongst the various type of units, how to mix your combat line and how to exploit your action points allowance, but the games are normally tense, not depended only on luck, and play fast enough to be ideal for tournament play.

This retrospective look is often a thin soup of anecdotes and hearsay, though the AD 506 war under the Emperor Anastasius is covered in some detail, particularly the siege of Amida.
The subsequent war with Persia beginning about AD 525 is covered in depth, particularly the Battle of Daras--a great Roman victory and the first significant Roman triumph against the Persians in decades.
The Emperor sent the few troops he had left who were still loyal to him to the Hippodrome under the command of the generals Belisarius and Mundus and a battle ensued in which 30,000 factionists were killed.

Ahmadinejad’s “honesty and compassion” letter is merely the latest thrust in the propaganda battle between Iran and the United States—a war of words that the U.S., in fact, seems to be losing pretty badly.
To a student of history, it is perhaps not surprising that the Iranian regime has shown itself so adept at waging a propaganda war—of providing sincere and reasonable sounding pretexts for their subsequent insincere and unreasonable actions.
Though an “Eternal Peace” was concluded between the two realms after the Battle of Daras, eternity proved to be less than ten years as the Persians launched a surprise invasion in AD 540 and sacked the magnificent city of Antioch.
