  Battle of Fariskur - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Battle of Fariskur was fought on April 6, 1250 between the French Crusaders led by Louis IX and an Egyptian army.
The Egyptians were victorious, and Louis IX was captured along with his army and ransomed in exchange for the surrender of Damietta captured earlied in 1248 - the only real achievement of the Crusade.
This is the final battle in the Seventh Crusade.

With Louis in their hands, the Egyptians were able to dictate terms, which included the return of Damietta, the one solid achievement of the crusade, and the payment of the huge sum of 500,000 pounds tournois, a huge sum.
Many of the captured crusaders were executed in the week after the battle after the Egyptians found themselves unable to deal with the huge number of prisoners they had captured.
