The final major battle between Prussia and Austria was the Battle of Freiberg, fought on October 29, 1762.

The Battle of Hastenbeck is one of the most curious battles in history, since both commander-in-chief thought that they lost the battle and were already starting to withdraw from the battlefield.
This coalition army later met a Prussian army at the Battle of Rossbach on November 5, 1757 with disaster.

After the Battle of Prague during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763), Austrian Marshal Leopold J. von Daun moves with 60,000 troops in an attempt to lift the siege of the city.
At the Battle of Zorndorf, Frederick intended to attack in the "Oblique Order." This was a form of attack intended to achieve overwhelming superiority at a vulnerable point in the enemy line and to withhold a wing for employment at a critical time during the battle.
The battle of Torgau, while a victory, is not the decisive engagement Frederick needed.

This was a particularly messy battle with little apparent co-ordination from senior officers and a deployment from flank march to line that gave only lip service to the army organisation.
The Prussians have lots of DC level officers to represent the use of small groups of units which was a feature of this battle.
While it is an important event (being Frederick's first defeat) it may be difficult to refight and of all the battles I have converted to VandB, this one was the most challenging.

The distance from the Kaiser-Strasse to the village is about 1 mile and during the time of the battle the ploughed field had a crop of shoulder-high corn growing all over it.
The Kolin memorial has been renovated to the delight of SYW enthusiasts.

He was highly valued by Maria Theresa, who made him commandant of Vienna and a knight of the Golden Fleece, and in 1754 he was elevated to the rank of field marshal.
He was not actively employed in the first campaigns of the war, but in 1757 he was placed at the head of the army which was raised to relieve Prague.

At the beginning of 1759 Finck became lieutenant-general, and in this rank commanded a corps at the disastrous battle of Kunersdorf, where he did good service both on the field of battle and (Frederick having in despair handed over to him the command) in the rallying of the beaten Prussians.
Later in the year he fought in concert with General Wunsch a widespread combat, called the action of Korbitz (Sept. 21st) in which the Austrians and the contingents of the minor states of the Empire were sharply defeated.

His first battle, at Chotusitz (17 May), was technically a Prussian victory, although both sides suffered large numbers of casualties, and Charles was able to extract his army largely intact.
The battle of Prague (6 May 1757 was Charles' last major battle, and during the course of the battle he suffered a fit that removed him from command, possibly helping Frederick take the day.
Charles recovered his health enough to retake command after the battle of Kolin (18 June), and to waste that victory, before finally being replaced by Leopold von Daun.

Battle in the Seven Years War which saw a rare defeat for Frederick the Great of Prussia against a smaller army.
The 60,000 strong Prussian army was besieging Prague, when a 53,000 strong Austrian army led by Leopold von Daun engaged them in battle, beating them, and forcing them to lift the siege.
Frederick lost half of his army and two of his best generals, along with much of his conquered territory, while the Austrians were even able to raid Berlin.

Here Friedrich "stood during the Battle," say they; and the Prussians "had a battery there." Which remains uncertain to me, at least the battery part of it: that Friedrich himself was there, now and then, can be believed; but not that he kept "standing there" for long together.
To Mannstein`s mistake, Friedrich himself, in his account of Kolin, mainly imputes the disaster that followed; and such, then and afterwards, was the universal judgment in military circles; loading the memory of too impetuous Mannstein with the whole.

Notable exception, at Kolin the Leibgarde Batallion was ridden over twice by Austrian Cavalry, but each time recovered !) The Morale check modifiers : In the 2nd edition rules some Morale Checks had strange modifiers...these were corrected by way of an errata sheet.
I still prefer Kolin, wider frontline, cavalry is more used to attack enemy troops instead of guarding the flanks.
Zorndorff is more an infantry battle and Kolin is more a combined arms battle.
