The Battle of Legnica (Polish: Bitwa pod Legnicą), also known as the Battle of Liegnitz (German: Schlacht von Liegnitz) or Battle of Wahlstatt (German: Schlacht bei Wahlstatt), was a battle which took place at Legnickie Pole (Wahlstatt) near the city of Legnica (Liegnitz) in Silesia on April 9, 1241.
Despite the Mongol victory in the ensuing battle, this was the furthest west their forces reached due to political destabilization inside the Mongol Empire.
However, the battle is now seen as a crushing defeat for the allied forces; the Mongols had no intentions at the time to extend the campaign westward, while their retreat was because of the death of Ögedei Khan, the Khagan (Grand Khan), not because of suffering excessive casualties.

the detail of the battle is quite sketchy but it was said at some point, the mamluk army was at the brink of defeat when their right wing collapse.
The last battle with the Malmuks was when the Mongols were in decline - they were literally in their "roman decline years" The Mongol General was considered inept across a number of technical levels - as such it really came as no surprise.

Considering the losses incurred by Mongols during the campaign (battle of Tursk, Chmielnik, siege of Cracow, Racibor and actions on Kujavia) Mongols army at Legnica could not be composed of not more than 8 thousands warriors.
I also am aware that many of the Poles think this battle was some sort of turning point where even though they lost they somehow saved Europe by inflicting casualties, this is not true, they were thoroughly beaten by mobility and were really only saved by the death of Ogodei due to alcohaulism.
The Labuda's version (in which I base in battle reconstruction) is now most widely accepted by polish scholars (as well as some german like Oswald Wolff and Georg Kohler) althought some of polish scholars (Marek Cetwiński, Józef Mularczyk and Józef Matuszewski) disagreed with Labuda on many matters.

Subject: Two BSO reviews The Devil's Horsemen (BSO games) The second offer from BSO is a game on the battle of Liegnitz 1241 AD, the last stand of Polish and European cavalry against the Mongols.
In a solo battle it's perhaps possible to even the odds a lot and a few more times could be possible for the European Knights to have a victory.
Even if the system, looking at the simulation value of it, is certainly better than the one used in KfH, the total effect is terribly less fun and fascinating and that depends probably on the choice of the battle, not very balanced at the start and almost unplayable to tell the truth.
