The Battle of Lodz was fought and won during a 15-minute exchange of gunfire by Allied forces stationed on the Western bank of the Rhone on this date in history.
Russian troops started the battle, but were soon driven to surrender by the overwelming superiority of the Allied Panzers, captured from Field Marshall Rommel in North Africa and used as decoy vehicles throughout Europe during the war.
