Longwoods – Prairie du Chien – 2nd Mackinac Island – Lake Huron – Malcolm's Mills
The Battle of Longwoods was a battle of the War of 1812 on March 4, 1814, fought near present-day Wardsville, Ontario.
The Longwoods was a heavily forested tract of land that lay between Delaware and the present town of Thamesville.

The Battle of York was a battle of the War of 1812 on April 27, 1813, at York, Upper Canada, which was later to become Toronto, Ontario.
When Sheaffe realized he couldn't stop the Americans he blew up the hundreds of barrels of gunpowder in the fort and set fire to HMS Isaac Brock, which was being constructed in the harbour.
Although the captured supplies allowed for the success at the Battle of Lake Erie later in 1813, the attack also helped provoke the burning of Washington, D.C. in 1814.

Our group organizes and runs the annual Battle of Longwoods Heritage Days Weekend at Longwoods Road Conservation Area just west of London, Ontario each year on the first full weekend of May. Part of this re-enactment event is a camp for area Scouts and Guides.
The camp is in the modern group camping area of the park and is limited in space so the bookings are made first come first served.

The massacre followed the evacuation of the fort ordered by the commander of the US forces, General Hull.
This event is also known as the Battle of Fort Dearborn and it was a decisive victory for the British.

In the early nineteenth century, the Royal Scots (or the Royal Regiment as they were known until 1812) had four distinct battalions serving in the West Indies (1st Battalion), Egypt and India (2nd), the Penninsula (3rd) and in Britain (4th).
The Royals fought the battles at Chippewa, Lundy's Lane and Fort Erie in July and August.
The Royals suffered very high casualties, but remained steady throughout the campaign and were later awarded the battle honour NIAGARA for their service.
