Battle of Maxia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Battle of Maxia was an altercation in 2355 between a Federation ship and a Ferengi vessel; it was the first contact between the two races.
While in the Maxia Zeta solar system, the USS Stargazer (NCC-2893), under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, was attacked by a then-unidentified alien spacecraft, disabling the Stargazer's deflector shields.
The Battle of Maxia resulted in the loss of the Ferengi ship and all of its hands as well as crippling damage to the Stargazer; the crew abandoned the ship without scuttling her in lifeboats and shuttlecraft and were recovered ten weeks later.

Battle of Maxia - Memory Alpha
The Battle of Maxia was a battle that took place in the Maxia Zeta system in 2355, in which the Federation starship USS Stargazer, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, was attacked by a Ferengi vessel, commanded by the son of DaiMon Bok.
The battle began when the Stargazer was suddenly fired upon by the Ferengi ship while travelling at warp 2 through the system.
The starship was eventually recovered by Bok, and used in his scheme to seek revenge against Picard, as well as to discredit the role of the "Hero of Maxia" in the Battle of Maxia with falsified logs claiming that Picard had been the one to attack the Ferengi ship without provocation.

I was lucky enough to see the original studio model at the Star Trek exhibition when it came to the UK, and the photos I took then (and those of Mike Trice) showed me exactly what the colours should be.
I opted to show the Stargazer with the battle damage that is visible on the studio model.
As the studio model has been re-christened 'Valkyrie' I would imagine it was used in the background of maybe the battle with the Borg or whatever (maybe someone can tell me where the Valkyrie was seen?), but the battle damage seemed appropriate to the Stargazer itself in the aftermath of the 'Battle of Maxia'.
