In the battle for Mt Tumbledown on the night of June 13th 1982, the 2nd Battalion of the Scots Guards were up against the well prepared and competent Argentine 5th Infantry Marine Battalion.
As they would normally be based in the southern part of Argentina with similar terrain and weather conditions they were well acclimatized and better equipped than most other units of the Argentine forces sent to the Falklands in 1982.
All things considered the losses were lighter than expected, 9 killed and 41 injured on the British side and approximately 25 Argentines lost their lives with probably twice this number injured.
