Battle of Quatre Bras - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Battle of Quatre Bras was fought between contingents of the Anglo-Dutch army and the left wing of the French Army on June 16, 1815, near the crossroads of Quatre Bras, in Belgium.
The crossroads of Quatre-Bras was of strategic importance because the side which controlled it could move south-eastward along the Nivelles-Namur road towards the French and Prussian armies at the Battle of Ligny.
At the beginning of the battle Marshal Michel Ney, with the left wing of the Armee du Nord, faced a force of some 8,000 Dutch infantry and 16 guns, under the command of the Prince of Orange, thinly deployed south of the crossroads of Quatre Bras.

King's German Legion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
At the Battle of Waterloo, the 2nd Light Battalion -- with members of the 1st Light Battalion and the 5th Line Battalion -- famously defended "La Haye Sainte" until they ran out of ammunition.
However, the army of Hanover had been reconstituted even before the final battle, so that there were 2 Hanoverian armies in existence.
In 1816 the Legion was dissolved and some officers and men were integrated into the new Hanoverian army -- but not all, which led to much hardship, especially for the lower ranks.

 The Battle of Waterloo
When the 13th and 15th arrived at the Chaussee leading from Brussels to Nivelles with General Grant, a troop from each regiment was detached to cover the march of some baggage which was on that road.
The final period of the battle is too well known to need repetition in anything but the most brief manner.
It confirms in its main narrative the story of the battle as told in the regimental records and in Colonel Doherty's papers, but it also adds other details which are full of interest.

In this manner the battle was engaged along the whole line, and the roar of cannon became tremendous.

In 1109, Henry I campaigned in the Vexin, a region in Normandy, to successfully prevent an attempt by Louis VI of France (1108-1137) [son of Philippe I] to divide Normandie with the duc d'Anjou.
A major battle at Brémule (20 August 1119) was decisively won by Henry I, and Louis VI had to agree that suzerainty over Maine and Brittany belonged to Henry I. However, Henry I's claim to Maine was also resisted by the powerful comte d'Anjou, Fulk V (1092-1143).
