Early on the 26th, in thick fog, 'Magdeburg' runs hard aground on the island of Odensholm at the southern entrance to the Gulf of Finland (59-18N, 23-21E).
She is believed to have been a victim of mines to the west of the larger island of Dago (c 59-40N, 23-50E) around the 4th September.

On the island of Saaremaa (Osel), a circular or bunched village prevailed in pre-historic times, and they have no concept of nobility, princes, or kings.
Olav was born circa 968 and was killed in battle on August 31, 1000, at age 32.
In 1227, the island was conquered by the Knights of the Sword and governed by its own bishops until 1561.

The battle lasted several days on the open sea, and, although the odds greatly favored the Swedes, the Russian line was supported by the batteries at Kronstadt and Kotlin.
Sinyavin's feat went down in history, and the battle of Osel Island became the first victory of the Russian fleet on the open sea.
The new manual was written by one of the heroes of the Osel Island battle, Captain Zotov, and was personally edited by Peter I. The creation of the coastguard in 1722 was governed by the Regulations on Controlling Admiralties and Shipyards.

It's not known for precisely what purposes the Danish schooners were designed and built, and how their intended service role might differ from Hohlenberg's "let brigger" or light brigs, but the Danes fitted the "konge skonnerten" Ørnen's underwater hull with copper-sheathing, an anti-fouling device designed to, inter alia, maintain a vessel's capacity for speed.
Hohlenberg's first schooner, the Svanen, was also employed in carrying diplomatic dispatches to and from St. Petersburg when she was wrecked on the island of Osel off Estonia, at the entrance to the Gulf of Finland, in 1800.
In British service Ørnen first served as an armed tender for the fleet, was hulked in 1814, and in 1815 became a school-ship for the Clyde Marine Society in Greenock; the British naval historian Lyon characterizes the Ørnen as a "packet" schooner.
