Topic: Battle of Pagan

Battle of Pagan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Battle of Pagan was fought in 1287 between Kublai Khan's Mongol Yuan dynasty of China, and their neighbors to the south, the Pagan Empire.
The battle was initiated by the Mongols, who sensed opportunity in the political turmoil caused by their successful 1283 invasion of the Pagan Empire in the Battle of Bhamo.
By the end of the battle, the Mongols had occupied much of the Pagan Empire and its capital city Pagan; although they quickly restored a member of the royal family as a puppet monarch, the empire crumbled as most of its territories declared independence.

Battle of Ngasaunggyan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Battle of Ngasaunggyan was fought in 1277 between Kublai Khan's Mongol Yuan Dynasty of China, and their neighbors to the south, the Pagan Empire (in present-day Myanmar) led by Narathihapate.
The Battle of Ngassaunggyan was the first of three decisive battles between the two empires, the others being the Battle of Bhamo in 1283 and the Battle of Pagan in 1287.
The battle was later reported back to Europe by Marco Polo, who described the battle vividly in his reports.

Pagan counterattacks in battle of the coaches - realfooty.com.au
Believing Pagan was slamming his side as "soft" when he spoke of their "uncontested brand" of football this week, Connolly said on Tuesday that the Carlton coach had been "disrespectful" and should mind his own business.
Pagan said his comment that the Dockers "get their running, uncontested brand going" was meant as a compliment.
Pagan said he hated to see coaches feuding, but he was "absolutely amazed" that Connolly could interpret his comments as negative.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Paganism
Paganism, in the broadest sense includes all religions other than the true one revealed by God, and, in a narrower sense, all except Christianity, Judaism, and Mohammedanism.
Even pagan feasts may be "baptized": certainly our processions of 25 April are the Robigalia; the Rogation days may replace the Ambarualia; the date of Christmas Day may be due to the same instinct which placed on 25 Dec., the Natalis invicti of the solar cult.
For an appreciation of pagan religions in themselves, and for an estimate of their pragmatic value in life, it should be noted that, in proportion as a pagan religion caught glimpses of high spiritual flights, of ecstacy, penance, otherworldliness, the "heroic", it opened the gates of all sorts of moral cataclysms.

Carlton coach Denis Pagan promised a harder edge to the Blues' training and delivered last night, putting his charges through a tough 90-minute session at Optus Oval.
Tackling, contests and a lot of close-in handballing under pressure were on the menu to try and avoid a "soft" tag that Pagan said had been given to his side after being belted by the reigning premier at the weekend.
Pagan's problem is that he needs results and to keep pushing up the kids at Carlton, a battle running at several Melbourne clubs.

He stepped in gracefully when Pagan was born, offering consistency and love, and struggled to do and say the right things for her when Candida died, even as Pagan's unloving grandparents swept in and took legal possession of the child.
Published earlier this year in Britain as Pagan and Her Parents, Arditti's second novel is narrated by Leo Young, the gay male companion of a single mother who, upon her death, leaves him in custody of her six-year-old daughter, Pagan.
Arditi wisely chooses not to try seeing the world through a child's eyes and, particularly when Pagan gives cryptic intimations that she may have been abused, the reader must suffer with the same sense of furious, frustrated uncertainty shared by the girl's guardians and by the courts that deal with her cases.

From the first second to the last, 'Battle Metal' is powerful orchestrations, catchy folkishness and the glory and the brutality of the battlefields — all bound together by an open-minded approach and pure progressiveness.
