		At the Aktio ferry terminal for the short crossing from the airport to Preveza is a Venetian fortress (improved by the Napoleonic French) which commands the entrance to the Amvrakikos Gulf.
		At the old pass of Kleisoura are the forts at Pente Pigadia.
		In 1897 the pass was held by Greek forces led by a young English composer Clement Harris who died in the subsequent Turkish counter attack.

		With the completion of the liberation of Macedonia the military operations were moved to Epirus where the Greek army, following the liberation of Preveza (21st October) and the seven-day long battle at Pente Pigadia (24th - 30th October), was brought to a halt in front of the Bizanio fort which protected Yiannena.
		The armistice which was signed in Tsataltsa on the 20th November by all the warring parties with the exception of Greece found Macedonia liberated from the Turks and the Greek army laying siege to Yiannena.
		The clash developed into an overwhelming victory for the allied armies over the Bulgarian forces which, during their retreat, engaged in the slaughter of civilians and the destruction of villages.

		Although i doubt there is enough space to categorise all the military defeats of the turkish people and the the turkish state so i will only list defeats occuring in the early part of this century:
		As I know, and as I read and heard, USA has no participation in the issue of the Greek/Italian occupation and turkish struggle to drive them out of Turkey.
		In fact Mustafa Kemal Ataturk organized a ressistance and a new goverment and defeated the greek army in many battles and skirmishes, the greek army evacuated anatolia and so Italians decided not to fight and leaved Turkey and then Turkish republic was born.
