 Battle of Rio Salado - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Battle of Río Salado (October 30, 1340), was a united victory of King Afonso IV of Portugal and King Alfonso XI of Castile over Muslim ruler Abu al-Hasan 'Ali of Marinid dynasty and Nasrid ruler Yusuf I.
This battle was a final attempt of Marinids to invade the Iberian Peninsula.
The Marinids had mobilised a vast army and, after crossing the Strait of Gibraltar and defeating a Christian fleet at Gibraltar, then proceeded inland to the Salado River near Tarifa, where they met the Christians.

Anaradian responded that the building isn't labeled "Rio Salado Operations Center", but it is labeled as a "Boathouse" to support the recreation activity on the Lake.
Rio Salado staff will be discussing the current CIP with Financial Services in the weeks to come to identify whether that project goes out to bid.
It might be wise to start looking at the overall dynamic of how Rio Salado has developed over the last three to four years, which might reveal that this is not a primary resort property.

A year before the Battle of Salado Creek, and within 30 days of one another, the two San Jacinto adversaries, Gen. Sam Houston of Texas and Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna of Mexico, had been reelected to the presidencies of their countries.
Although several inconclusive skirmishes had occurred daring the first hours, the battle escalated into the afternoon as a series of feints by the Texans appearing at the edge of the prairie, the cannon fusillade and infantry attack by the Mexicans in response, and the increasingly frustrating disappearance of Caldwell’s men back into the creek bottom.

After gaining the support of the influential Archbishop Giovanni Visconti of Milan and that of Pisa, Florence, and Siena, he began his military operations against the powerful Giovanni di Vico, Prefect of Rome, Lord of Viterbo and usurper of a large tract of papal territory.
The latter was defeated in the battle of Orvieto, 10 March, 1354.

A battle in which the Visgothic king, Pelayo, defeated the Muslim army in 722 became the symbol of Christian Reconquest, "The Reconquista." Uprisings and revolts of Christians and Jews in Cordoba, 805, 817 and Toledo, 814 and 837 were all surpressed.
It was the defeat and capture of Toledo from the Moors by Alfonso VI in 1085 that led to the summoning of Almoravids, a fundamentalist sect, from Africa.
He defeated Spanish and Moroccan Muslims in the battle for Rio Salado and ended the African threat.

On the morning of 11 Sep 1842, the residents of San Antonio were surprised by the sounds of cannon and learned they were under control of a force of 1450 infantry, cavalry and artillery under the French-born General Adrian Woll (Gual in the native French).
After five days, about 55 prisoners were told that they would have to march to the Rio Grande where they would be handed over into the custody of his superior, General Reyes and likely be set free.
On the Hondo River, learning that Gen. Woll’s army had crossed the Rio Grande the Texan force by majority vote in favor of Capt. Caldwell's opinion, returned to San Antonio without crossing the border.
