The Battle of Vysehrad was a series of engagements at the start of the Hussite War between Hussite forces and Catholic crusaders sent by Emperor Sigismund.
The battle took place at the castle of Vysehrad from August 16, 1419, to c.
The plan of battle was sent to Hradcany and Vysehrad by courier, but the courier was captured by Hussites.

He took possession of the town of Kutna Hora, but was decisively defeated by Zizka at the battle of Nemecky Brod (Deutschbrod) on 6 January 1422.
Korybutovic, however, remained but a short time in Bohemia; after his departure civil war broke out, the Taborites opposing in arms the more moderate Utraquists, who at this period are also called by the chroniclers the "Praguers", as Prague was their principal stronghold.
On 30 May of that year the Taborite army, led by Prokop the Great and Prokop the Less, who both fell in the battle, was totally defeated and almost annihilated at Lipany.

When a temporary armistice was concluded between the partisans of King Sigismund and the citizens of Prague, Zizka marched to Plzen (Pilsen) with his followers, but soon left that city, and, after defeating at Sudomer the partisans of Sigismund, arrived at Tabor, the newly founded stronghold of the advanced Hussites.
Zizka took a large part in the organization of the new military community and became one of the four captains of the people (hejtmane) who were at its head.
The present town of Znaim was founded in 1226 by Ottacar I. of Bohemia on the site of Znojmo, the ancient capital of the tributary margraves of Moravia, which had been destroyed in 1145.

Sigismund in a fit of pique during the battle ordered the Moravian contingent to attack the Hussites strongest point because their leader had attempted to dissuade the Emperor from a frontal assault.
There is an alternative deployment for this battle where the Orebite cavalry are either side of the Ballast wagons and it is they who charge into the chaos caused by the wagons impact on the Praguer centre.
The final battle at Cesky Brod fulfilled a comment of Sigismund after one of his numerous previous defeats "that the Bohemians could be overcome only by Bohemians." The role of the Hussites however continued as many of the their soldiers found employment amongst their previous enemies.

It is situated 10 km east of the town Strakonice, 383 m a.s.l.

One of his most astounding victories, a battle fought against overwhelming odds, took place on this very spot on July 14th, 1420.
King Wenceslas IV died shortly after the Battle of Vysehrad, and his brother Sigismund, the King of Hungary also became king of the Czech Lands.
His Hussite forces continued to fight successfully until they were torn apart by internal rivalries at the Battle of Lipany in 1436.

There is also the battle of Sudomer in 1420, which was one of the first conflicts in the crusades against the Hussites.
This battle is also called the battle of the Tabor as Jan Zizka defended a wagon square against a vastly superior force of Royalist Cavalry.
This battle predates the founding of the fortress (a pre-existing ruined castle) and town of Tabor whose name, I believe also being chosen on its founding.
