In 1283, Ústí nad Labem with a castle overlooking the Elbe-Bílina confluence, along with other towns like Most, Děčín etc. were pawned to Otto von Brandenburg as a part of the ransom paid for release of the twelve year old Václav II.
Ústí nad Labem was born as a merchant’ s settlement at the confluence of the Elbe and Bílina rivers.
In 1426, after the battle “Na Běháni”, the town was burnt to the ground by the Hussite troops and was desolated for another 3 years.
