First evidence for settlement in the region of Zarnowiec came from 8th century BC.
In the year 1215 Zarnowiec belonged to Cysters from Oliva Abbey, which founded here female monastery.
In 14th century Zarnowiec was with whole Gdansk Pommerania incorporated into Teuton Order[?] state and belonged to comturia (?) from Danzig.

In 1462, during Thirteen Years' War, the Polish army under Piotr Dunin defeated the Teutonic Knights there (see Battle of Swiecin, also known as the Battle of Zarnowiec).

Żarnowiec is a village in northern Poland, in the northern part of the Pomorskie voivodship, close to Zarnowiec Lake.
In 1462, during the Thirteen Years' War, the Polish army under Piotr Dunin defeated the Teutonic Knights there (see Battle of Świecin, also known as the Battle of Żarnowiec).

 Barlows in the Revolutionary War
Joel Barlow, of Redding, Connecticut, enlisted in Colonel Huntington's Regiment of the Connecticut Line and took part in the Battle of White Plains, New York, on October 28, 1776.
He died from inflammation of the lungs at Zarnowiec, Poland, on December 24, 1812, and was buried in the churchyard there.
He was in the Battles of Germantown and Monmouth, served in one campaign in 1775 and all of 1776.
