BattleTech - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BattleTech's universe is comprised of numerous interstellar human governments; these remnants of the effectively defunct Star League are fighting a war over control of the Inner Sphere and the five Successor States.
BattleTech was originally released under the name BattleDroids, but was renamed with the release of the second edition due to George Lucas and Lucasfilm Ltd. holding a trademark on the term droid.
BattleTech has won three Origins Awards and its various spinoffs and expansions several more.

The Clans typically speak a dialect of Terran English; however, they disdain and avoid the use of contractions and similar practices in speech, with the exception of the ritualised contractions used specifically by the warrior caste.
Clan Diamond Shark changed its name back to Sea Fox in 3100 after the events surrounding their censure by the Grand Council and relocation to the Inner Sphere during the Blakist Jihad caused the development of autonomous trade fleets known as Khanates, and a new chapter in the history of the Clan began.
Clan Smoke Jaguar's weakness has filled its warriors with frustration and a fierce desire to prove they are still a force to be reckoned with - which makes the Jaguars a potentially dangerous enemy for their Clan brethren and Inner Sphere powers.

Gaming is entertainment, and BattleTech is a commercial entertainment property, and both are well beyond the control of those who might set themselves up as a priesthood (and my choice of religious terminology here is not a shot at either the Church of BattleTech or the Ministry of BattleTech).
