Missouri bladderpod (Lesquerella filiformis Rollins) is a federally endangered plant that occurs within a narrow range of southwestern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
Threats to Missouri bladderpod populations include woody encroachment of glade habitat by eastern red cedars (Juniperus virginiana L.), and invasion of exotic plants, including three species of annual brome grass (Bromus racemosus L., B. sterilis L. and B. tectorum L.).
Each spring, Missouri bladderpod plants are counted within thirty or more 3m X 3m plots, placed at regular intervals along permanently marked transects evenly spaced throughout the glade.

The 1861 and 1862 battles of Wilson's Creek and Pea Ridge are of interest to historians for the roles they played in keeping Missouri in the Union and setting the stage for the campaigns that allowed the Union to control most of the lands west of the Mississippi by 1863.
Prehistoric archeological inventory is being conducted as a separate element under a separate research framework by the University of Arkansas under the direction of Dr. Marvin Kay.
