Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction movie and television series, produced in 1978 by Glen Larson and starring Lorne Greene, Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict.
In Europe, for example, the Battlestar Galactica movie preceded the showing of the TV series.
Battlestar Galactica is set in a distant part of the galaxy in an age described as "the seventh millennium of time." Twelve colonies (planets) of humans have been fighting a thousand-year war against the android race of Cylons, who seek to exterminate all of humanity.

The tv series lasted for only 15 episodes between 1978 and 1979 and, although it rated well, it was pulled from the air because it was then the most expensive tv series ever made per episode and didn’t rate well enough to justify such expense in the studio’s eyes.
The series idea of high concept seemed to be having the Galactica crew encountering an alien who claimed to be Satan.

The first pic, the one for the 'old' series is a 'new-looking' pic, so I thought it was the new one series, yet on the Blockbuster website it named actors from the 'old' series.
The mini series was actually a feature length pilot, lasting around 4 hours, and led into a full series of episodes.
