		Although purists from the original series' fandom loudly disapproved of changes to the premise, the show was the highest-rated cable miniseries of 2003.
		The original Colonial Warrior (Viper pilot) emblem on the uniforms was the branch insignia used by U.S. Army military intelligence officers with the interior of the rose petals colored in blue.
		As opposed to the original series, where it was used exclusively as an interjection, the new series uses it in almost any context, employing variations such as "frak!" "frak you," "frak off," "what the frak?" "we're frakked," and even "motherfrakker," as well as referring literally to sexual intercourse.

	Battlestar Galactica: The Original Series
		Battlestar Galactica tells the story of the last battlestar as it leads the remnants of humanity in a quest for the mysterious 13th tribe.
		Originally, Baltar was to be executed, a scene which was shown in the theatrical version of the series pilot.
		Usually a series will not hit its stride until the second season, as actors become more comfortable in their roles, and writers have a better handle on the characters and concepts to be presented on screen.

		The original Battlestar Galactica (1978) was, according to its creator Glen Larson, a biblically inspired space opera.
		Gone is the awkward, superficial fusion of biblical references, astrology and Greek mythology from the original series and replaced here by an all-pervasive, collective warrior spirit, like that depicted in 'Babylon 5' and 'Starship Troopers', where the narrative remains acutely focused on team work and coping with the harsh reality of war.
		Apart from falling ratings, this was the final nail in the coffin for the series, which was cancelled after only 19 episodes.
