The Care and Breeding of Bavayia
Bavayia are found on low ground shrubs, saplings, termite-infested rotting wood, and leaf litter in the steep cool rainforests, which are very wet and humid.
Bavayia are extremely aggressive nocturnal predators, chasing their prey and attacking with accuracy.
Bavayia should be in the deli cups as mentioned earlier, but may need to be moved into larger individual cages as they become sub-adults.

Each of the 14 genera now referred to the subfamily Diplodactylinae (Naultinus, Hoplodactylus, Heteropholis, Bavayia, Rhacodactylus, Eurydactylodes, Pseudothecadactylus, Carphodactylus, Phyllurus, Nephrurus, Oedura, Diplodactylus, Rhynchoedura, and Crenadactylus) is characterized on the basis of its internal and external morphology.
The Diplodactylinae are divided into two tribes primarily on the basis of differences in the arrangement and number of preanal pores and the size and shape of the nasal process of the premaxilla.
Pseudothecadactylus is considered to be closely related to the New Caledonia-Loyalty Islands radiation, which consists of Eurydactylodes and Rhacodactylus, and probably Bavayia.

 Herpetology - Pretty Bavayia
Conservation status: Bavayia pulchella has a very small distribution on the central ranges with a likely area of occupancy of <100km2, the two locations from which it is known are approximately 5km apart and may represent a single continuous population.
Its' small distribution, in combination with several moderate levels of threat indicate Bavayia pulchella is at risk, and should be categorised as Vulnerable.
The species could be placed at a higher level of threat if declines in the area, extent and/or quality of habitat in the species very narrow range continue.
