 Save Barnegat Bay
The submerged aquatic, eelgrass which is recognized as the barometer of the health of Barnegat Bay has fallen to the low end of the scale in 2001.
A recent survey of the submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) beds (eelgrass and widgeon grass) in Barnegat Bay showed that the heavy brown algae covering the grass in May and June had died and the eelgrass was growing well.
The eelgrass meadows in most of Barnegat Bay suffered from an early growth of a large macro algae which covered the growing grass starving it from sunlight.

Dolphins are members of the cetacean family that may often be seen accompanying their larger aquatic cousins, the humpback whales of Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.

That study analyzed the impact of dredge-and-fill activities on the bay's aquatic resources and identified restoration and mitigation options.

Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve consists of two separate areas of the Bay, one occupying the northern part of the Bay (roughly, just south of Cape Florida on the east, and just south of Chicken Key on the west), and the other occupying the southern portion (Card Sound).
Sea turtles that occur in Biscayne Bay are the Atlantic green turtle, the Atlantic hawksbill, the leatherback, the Atlantic ridley, and the loggerhead.
Biscayne Bay occupies a bedrock basinal area bounded on the west by the Atlantic Coastal Ridge, composed of Miami Limestone, and the low platform of the Everglades.

Protecting and managing the habitats of Barnegat Bay benefits the citizens of New Jersey not only by reducing damage to natural ecological systems that provide homes for a myriad of terrestrial and aquatic species, but also by preserving open space and multiuse recreational areas in a region characterized by dense residential and commercial development.

In Willapa Bay, millions of germinating seeds are visible in the high intertidal drift zone during the winter.
Findings from attempts to remove a 1 by 2 m clone in Willapa Bay indicate it is difficult to remove all roots and rhizomes, and the amount of wet mud that is removed in the digging process makes the technique unmanageable (Aberle 1990).
