Bayawan City is a 5th class city in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines.
Bayawan is located around 101 kilometers from the provincial capital Dumaguete City and near the provincial border with Negros Occidental.
Catalina to the east, Tanjay City to the southeast and Basay to the west and it also shares a boundary with Kabankalan City of Negros Occidental on the northwest.

Cities, like municipalities, are composed of barangays and are governed by elective officials such as Mayor as Local Chief Executive, Vice-Mayor, and councilors as well as appointive officials heading the different local offices under them.
Examples are Tarlac City in Tarlac province, and Palayan City, in Nueva Ecija province, and the City of San Fernando in Pampanga.

DOH field workers are regularly conducting house-to-house blood survey where a blood smear is collected from febrile cases, or persons with fever, in the identified endemic-prone areas in the province, according to Suzie Sayre, OIC provincial malaria coordinator here.

During a Kapihan sa PIA Forum, Paltinca said that corn crops suffered the most due to the heavy drought, with Bayawan City in the south being the hardest hit.
As of April 2003, a total of 1,454 hectares of land targetted for corn production were affected by the drought in Bayawan City, causing an estimated P29 million in losses, Paltinca said.

Congratulations to the City of Bayawan and TRAP for staging another well organized triathlon!
It was my first time to join an olympic distance triathlon and it was worth the trip to go as far as Bayawan because I had a grand time in the competition being able to finish the race (despite the 42nd slot).
I was even served by a generous family in Bayawan City taking advantage of the home stay program during my entire stay there.
