Between 1936 and the end of the war, the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (Bavarian Aircraft Works) - later Messerschmitt A.G.
The 109G was not an ideal aircraft - experienced pilots described its landing characteristics as “malicious,” only full throttle would do whenever the flaps and undercarriage were lowered - but, together with the more advanced Focke-Wulf Fw 190, it continued as the backbone of the Luftwaffe’s single-engine fighter force.

 Siebel Si 201
The Siebel Si 201 was designed to meet a specification calling for an air observation post and army co-operation aircraft placing emphasis on STOL and slow-flying performance and all-round visibility.
The specification was issued early in 1937, by which time the Luftwaffe was already evaluating the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch, and the Bayerische Flugzeugwerke produced a competitive design, the Bf 163, which, built by the "Weser" Flugzeugbau, flew in 1938 as did also the Si 201.
Whereas the Bf 163 closely followed the Fi 156 concept, the Si 201 was unorthodox in that its Argus As 10 eight-cylinder inverted-vee aircooled engine was mounted above the wing as a pusher, driving a four-bladed fixed-pitch airscrew which rotated above a slim, circular-section tailboom.

From Warplanes of the Third Reich by William Green, considered by many to be the authoratative work on German warplanes, the designation "BF" comes from the name of the company that manufactured the plane, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke A.G. Technically, all planes manufactured by this factory would have had a "BF" designation.
Actually the designation ??109 did not change from the BF (Bayerische Flugzeugwerke) to ME to simply match the designers name.
It was changed because the factory, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke was redeginated to Messerschmitt Flugzeugwerke in 1938!
