The request to table the matter came from Bayfield resident Wayne Nelson, who told board members that the town's request to remove the provision of the zoning code would cause him financial harm and disrupt plans to develop a six-acre tract of land near Bayfield for a condominium project.
Board members were told that the Town of Bayfield was making the request to remove the automatic density doubler so that the town could more effectively manage and control development in the town.
Nelson responded that the town had not been interested in looking at his plan, and that they had requested the change only after he went to them and sought a zoning change for his project.

TOWN OF BAYFIELD — On Monday, in spite of strong opposition, the Bayfield Town Board voted unanimously to approve a petition request from the Pike's Bay Sanitation District Commission to expand its present boundaries to include a greater area within the town.
In addition to the expansion request by the commission, the Town of Bayfield and the City of Bayfield are also in the preliminary design stages of planning a new joint sanitation plant at the existing site estimated at $6.3 million.
Attorney for the Town of Bayfield, Matthew Anich, told board members that in his opinion, based upon researching state statutes, the Pike's Bay Sanitary District commissioners were considered defacto officers, appointed by the town board, and were serving their positions accordingly.
