		Bayside gathers nasal, Green Day-style vocals, some basement-quality guitars and an indie band attitude; they write pop-punk songs about the life of the suburbs.
		Bayside also incorporates guitar solos into most of their work -- something that indie rock, due not only to modesty, but more often to lack of skill, typically leaves out -- without sounding unnatural or wanky.

		Bayside formed in Long Island, NY during the winter of 2000, after the requisite line-up changes of a young band were settled, they moved rapidly, establishing a fan base on the East Coast and touring North America.

		The main difference between Bayside and any other ‘emo’ band is that Bayside delivers - tight songs, emotionally distressed lyrics that dabble in clichés but effectively rewrite them, and a healthy and hearty sense of humor.
		Bayside is a heavy pop rock outfit, with blunt and/or hilarious lyrics (depending on your level on cynicism) sung with a clean distinctive voice, highlighted by impressive technical melodic guitar lines.
		As pop-punk bands homogenize under increasing scrutiny by the mainstream press and the deep-pocketed major labels, it is nice to see a band that breathes life into a tired genre and leaves their own indelible mark.

	SPIN.com: Bayside
		During the band's tour in support of their debut album last October, their van rolled over, breaking the back of bassist Nick Ghanbarian and killing drummer John "Beatz" Holohan.
		It is difficult to imagine a more effective tribute to the absent band members than this; at the moments where the songs falter, where these renditions don't quite work, it's easy to hear how a drum fill or a bass progression would've brought everything back together.
		The band has reformed and is beginning to make louder noises again, with Gavin Miller (ex-Staring Back) on drums and Nick Testa keeping the bass spot warm until Ghanbarian is fully rehabbed this spring.

		Bands will compete for some fantastic prizes including studio recording time and the opportunity to compete in the regional final against bands from the Southern Metropolitan Region for a chance to enter the state-wide final, to be held at Push Over 2007.

		Bayside was in a terrible accident last morning while driving to the concert on the “Never Sleep Again” Tour, which includes their friends and label mates Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein and Aiden.
		The band's drummer John “Beatz” Holohan was killed when their van flipped after hitting a patch of ice outside of Cheyenne, WY. Their bass player Nick Ghanbarian was also seriously injured.
		John was only with Bayside for a year and made many other styles of music before he joined Bayside.
