Beacon Film Club will be holding an introductory meeting on Monday November 18 at 3:30 in the 3rd floor lab.
After receiving a bye, Beacon beat Columbus HS 2-0 in the second round and yesterday beat Bayside HS 3-1 in the quarterfinals.
The Beacon School was one of the schools identified within their investigation.

The NLANR/DAST Multicast Beacon is a multicast diagnostic tool written in Perl which uses the RTP protocol (RFC3550) to provide useful statistics and diagnostic information about a given multicast group's connectivity characteristics.
Central Loss is the reported loss between two Beacons in the current multicast group, sent via TCP unicast back to the Central Server for the group.
Central Jitter is the reported Jitter between two Beacons in the current multicast group, sent via TCP unicast back to the Central Server for the group.

 NCDXF/IARU International Beacon Project - Transmission Schedule
Faros is a new automatic beacon monitoring program by VE3NEA which accurately distinguishes beacon signals from noise to measure signal-to-noise, QSB, and propagation delay.
A new open source project is underway to create a series of Automatic Beacon Monitoring Stations which will eventually display reception reports for the beacons on the web.

The present loading is the second one to be used for the beacon, with the previous loading coil having been wound with two parallel strands of 10/40 litz wire.
The beacon is also intermittently copiable at a distance of 75 miles (120 km) over multiple mountain ranges during daylight hours (see the screen display.) At this distance, the signal fades in and out, probably due to multipath effects between the skywave and groundwave.
On 24 March, 2001, Steve, VE7SL was able to copy the beacon when it was in the QRSS (three second dit) mode from the Puget Sound area (a distance of about 800 miles, or 1300 km.) Since that time, Steve has copied the beacon numerous times via QRSS.

The food is truly lovely here at Beacon Street Tavern, as is the atmosphere, but if we had come here trying to impress an online date, the abysmal service might have left a sour taste in our mouths.
