Bead sort - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bead sort is a natural sorting algorithm, developed by Joshua J. Arulanandham, Cristian S. Calude and Michael J. Dinneen in 2002, and published in The Bulletin of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science.
Both digital and analog hardware implementations of Bead sort can achieve a sorting time of O(n); however, the implementation of this algorithm tends to be significantly slower in software and can only be used to sort lists of positive integers.
The Bead sort operation can be compared to the manner in which beads slide on parallel poles, such as on an abacus.

Talk:Bead sort - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's equivalent to the well-known "bin sort" aka Pigeonhole_sort, and it's only order(N) if the number of items to be sorted exceeds the range of possible values.
You could establish a mapping (eg, a hash function) into some smaller range, and as long as the mapping was rapid and easily reversible and collisions were infrequent, you'd stay close to the claimed efficiency.
But the usefulness of the algorithm is still limited either to domains where suitable low-collision mappings can be found quickly or, as I've said before, to domains where the list to be sorted is large compared to the range of values.

This old strand of trade beads, measuring about 28 inches, is a fine example of a strand of one individual bead comprising the whole strand.
Three of the beads have substantial chunks missing from their ends; the rest of the beads are in very good to excellent condition.
But as is common with this style of bead, they are very rough to the touch as different portions of the outer layer of the beads have worn away at different rates.

 Hill Tribes silver small beads
The bead measures approximately 5.88mm (hole to hole) by 7.11mm in diameter and about a 1.5mm hole, which makes it technically a rondelle bead; it has a series of simple flower designs around the center.
This interesting bead is more or less oval shaped, and has pinched folds of silver forming a star shape if viewed from the ends of the bead, and a kind of corrugated effect if viewed from the side.
These beads average about 7.22-7.57x4 long by 4.4mm in diameter, and there's a bit more variation in the sizing and even the way the beads are styled, compared to the others in this group.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: The Rosary
This Oriental form of rosary is known in the Hellenic Greek Church as kombologion (chaplet), or komboschoinion (string of knots or beads), in the Russian Church as vervitza (string), chotki (chaplet), or liestovka (ladder), and in the Rumanian Church as matanie (reverence).
At the beginning and at the end of each prayer said by the monk upon each knot or bead he makes the "great reverence" (he megale metanoia), bending down to the ground, so that the recitation of the rosary is often known as a metania.
The Russian rosary is divided by the four large beads so as to represent the different parts of the canonical Office which the recitation of the rosary replaces, while the four large beads themselves represent the four Evangelists.

The Bead Sort Algorithm manages to do its job in O(n) (or even in Big O of square root of n, depending on the chosen analysis).
The algorithm represents the positive integers by a set of beads, like those used in an abacus.
The paper also describes a number of hardware implementations which directly represent the beads and simulate their falling behavior in a highly parallelized manner.

The center of the weld bead is the last to solidify, so that is normally when center line, hot cracking, solidification cracking (it's called many things) occurs.
