 | | Continue north on US 9W for 0.5 mile, past the Fort Montgomery Historic Site, and park at the abandoned Trading Post restaurant/motel, on the right side of the road (this abandoned building is now public property, and parking is permitted here). |
 | | From here, you can see not only the Hudson River and Bear Mountain Bridge to the east, but also Bear Mountain to the south, and the hills of the West Point Military Reservation to the west. |
 | | This prefabricated bridge (to be officially dedicated on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 5 th) was installed just several weeks ago by a volunteer trail crew from the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, and it replaced a less-substantial bridge that had been washed out nearly five years ago by Hurricane Floyd. |
