		Bear River is a small clear slow moving river in the U.S. state of Michigan.
		The river has its headwaters in Walloon Lake on the boundary between Charlevoix County and Emmet County, draining from the southeast end of the lake at 45°15′40″N, 84°56′02″W near the community of Walloon Lake in Melrose Township.
		For most of its path in Emmet County, River Road and the Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railway parallel the river on its west banks.

	Michigan's Super Spring Steelheading
		Bear Creek joins the Manistee in the middle of the reach and is the sleeper of the "Manistee Three." Like the Little Manistee it is completely dependent on wild fish but it doesn't get as large a run.
		River ice then prevents winter fishing, so these steelhead will still be there when spring arrives.
		To the north, the Au Sable River receives a very large stocking of steelhead smolts each year, and these fish are limited to the lower 10 miles of the river by Foote Dam near Oscoda.

		The river is canoeable from Irons Road to Stronach.
		Signs along River Road on the south side of the river are a can't miss for finding these sites (the Weir is off Old Stronach Road which runs west off Six Mile 50 yards north of County Line Rd.).
		When exiting the river at the Weir signs are posted on the river "Dam Ahead" but the Weir is opened during the summer months and it is no problem getting through.
