Milngavie is located to the north west catchment area of Glasgow in the valley of the River Allander.
Milngavie is a gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and yet is close to and easily accessible from Glasgow by road, rail and is only half an hour from Glasgow Airport.

Bearsden, Milngavie and Strathkelvin are now under considerable pressure from developers who want green-belt land to be freed.
The boundaries of the Strathclyde green belt which cover the districts of Bearsden and Milngavie and Clydebank are therefore set out in the adopted local plans for the area and may be revised only by the district councils through the statutory alterations procedure.
As with the previous alteration, in the 1986 update, Bearsden and Milngavie was not identified as one of those districts.

Milngavie (Mill-Guy, not Mill'n'gavie as the spelling would suggest) is a small town just outside Glasgow and is easily one of the less interesting places in Scotland or indeed the world.
Almost every crime lord in the west of Scotland has a house in Milngavie or Bearsden (The neighbouring town) This is because both of Milngavies police officers are fairly useless and it is a safe sort of place to keep their familys.
This is actually a signposting accident where the signs for welcome to bearsden and welcome to milngavie have a five (approx) metre gap between them, the space between is unclaimed territory and may be mined.

The photo above is of Milngavie's original school building, erected in 1875 for children of all ages.
This is the newer and larger of the two buildings, built to cope with Milngavie's growth in population at the turn of the century.
In later years secondary age pupils studied in Bearsden until Milngavie acquired its own secondary school, Douglas Academy, in 1967.

This follows the conclusion of legal proceedings today and the consequent publication of a comprehensive and critical report on the diesel contamination of Burncrooks waterworks which occurred in December last year.
During the incident over 60,000 customers living in Clydebank, Bearsden and Milngavie were without water supplies for several days.
To his great credit he believes that, as head of the organisation, he is ultimately responsible for its actions, and has offered to step down in recognition of this.

 Latest News - The Hospital Broadcasting Service
The first three Saturdays in June were again busy with the Service attending the Gala Days in Lenzie and Milngavie on June 4th, the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games on the 11th and and finally the Gala Day at Paisley's Barshaw Park on the 18th.
A big thank you needs to be said once again to all of the businesses - many of them local to Bearsden and Milngavie - who donated the majority of the prizes that we had on this years stall.
The first three Saturdays in June were busy with the Service attending the Gala Day in Lenzie, The Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games and also the Gala Day at Paisley's Barshaw Park.
