When you compare comics to a more similarly costed medium, like genre paperbacks (which also must be purchased, which need to be bought in stores or specialty stores, which require specialized knowledge of the genre or series), then the sales numbers become a lot more similar, averaging around ten thousand of so.
It seems to me that the only reason to adapt a show to comics (or a comic to movies, or whatever) is specifically to do what could not be done (or done well) in the previous medium.
I think comic book stories are a lot better when they have stronger internal continuity and are worried less about their place in the grand scheme of things, where crossovers and cross-continuity is treated as a special event and not the norm.

As the animated series had not yet begun to air, this set was to introduce children and collectors to the new era of the beast.

Their is a gray-blue application along the fur on the arms, in the hair (on the head), on the top of the hands and the top of the feet.
X3 Beast features 32 Points of Articulation, which is nice for a movie figure in the Marvel Legends line, compared to say, Movie Daredevil from Marvel Legends Series 3.
Since this is Beast in his combat costume, he should have been able to make a fist, some finger articulation would have been very useful.

I like his robots a bit better than his beasts, oddly because his beasts are a little too realistic.
That's one way in which the Beast Wars cartoon made a virtue of necessity...they couldn't simply drop dozens of "characters" onto the screen at once, so they had to actually spend some time developing the ones they had.
Oh, and there's no actual indication in the comic that this is a 4 issue mini, which is a bit irksome.

I suspect the beast modes are computer mockups, but the robot modes look like actual toys.
Beast Wars Neo toys kick in here, plus the end of the BWII manga.
Comparison of Beast Modes: This was the large picture I couldn't scan from TV Magazine, but shrunk down to the point I could fit it on the scanner plate.

The Beast Wars comic from IDW is a four-issue limited series that still is going on.
Believe it or not, it takes place at the same time as the Beast Wars TV show, and in the same place, but the characters in this new series are "chronally displaced" by a few microseconds, so Primal, Megs, etc. can't see them.
Other than the fact that Magmatron is the main villainous character in Japan's Beast Wars Neo and this comic, this doesn't appear to be connected to either of the Japanese Beast Wars series'.
