Beastmaster was released in 1982; I was all of 8 and loved this movie to no end.
The acting, to which at 8 seemed as serious and grave as a Dentist or Doctor's appointment was as hokey as a clown at the circus.
Beastmaster is a stunning tale of a child stolen from his queen mother's womb to a cow's, thrust into magic and mystery by a witch, only to be saved from slaughter at her hands by a passing peasant.

TV ACRES: Ferrets & Weasels - Kodo & Podo (Beastmaster)
The ferret characters of Kodo and Podo are based on the 1982 movie The Beastmaster and its sequels Beastmaster II: Thourgh the Portal of Time (1991) and Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus (1995) which are all loosely based on the Andre Norton novel The Beast Master.
At the end of the original Beastmaster movie, one of the two ferrets dies when he falls into a fire, but as the franchise continued in the sequel movie, there were again two ferrets tagging along with Dar.
Well, maybe, one of the ferrets was a female and she gave birth to two new pups and then died.

HIGHLANDER TV SERIES - SEASON ONE DVD
Set in some undefined yokelville shot in the verdant backwoods of Vancouver, the episode begins with a series of ridiculously inept editorial decisions that work as a primer on what happens when all rules of visual storytelling are cast by the wayside.
The series is sort of misogynistic it goes without saying, but the casting of Tess as a sub-literate victim/hysterical siren is frankly too hilarious to overly offend.
A thirty-minute making-of documentary that originally aired as an introduction to the series is the typical B-reel, obsequious interview bit of propagandist huff 'n' puff.

Since the TV show was more straight sci-fi (with only a tint of allegory) and less satire, it used a more logical, recognizable version of the human race.
For a one-shot deal, that added to the movie, but for a TV show, you need leads who are likable.
It's a shame the series didn't last long enough to grow beyond it's original premise (a fate shared by too many potentially great sci-fi shows that never get the chance to become what they ought to be, ala Battlestar Galactica, Space: Above and Beyond, Firefly, The Flash, etc...).
