Beau Bridges interview - Stargate SG-1
Beau Bridges: Well, what was interesting in creating this character, when Robert Cooper and Brad Wright asked me to be a part of the show, there was no script and there was no character, other than the fact that he was a general.
Beau Bridges: Not so much in her character, once it was decided, but the part that I was involved in was just coming up with the concept of me having an ex-wife who I met in Vietnam and having a daughter that I was estranged from.
Beau Bridges: I had one, I really love an episode, I forget which season it was in, but it was with Dr. Lam, with Lexa Doig, and we were beginning to break through our estrangement and I had basically asked her for forgiveness when I thought I was going to die.

Bridges has dabbled as a TV series regular, beginning with his supporting role in the NBC sitcom "Ensign O'Toole" (1962-63), and made a second stab at small screen stardom with the critically well-received but extremely short-lived "United Sates" (NBC, 1980).
Bridges tried to make a go of "Harts of the West" (CBS, 1993-94), co-executive producing as well as starring as a city feller who uproots his family to the Flying Tumbleweed Ranch in Sholo, Nevada, but the show, which featured his father in a recurring role, found no more luck than had his previous ventures.
Bridges portrayed the young Benjamin Franklin in "The Whirlwind" (CBS, 1974), one episode in a multi-part biography of the statesman (played as an older man by his father), and was properly British in remakes of "The Four Feathers" (NBC, 1978) and "Witness for the Prosecution" (CBS, 1982), among his early TV-movies.
