Beaufort: Sabah’s first “rail bus”, under a more than RM350 million ongoing programme to rehabilitate the State’s railway system, successfully went on a test run between Tenom and here recently.
It was learnt that Sabah has acquired three units of the rail bus to serve the Tanjung Aru-Tenom route, which will take only about two hours.
About a year ago, the Sabah Government announced long-awaited plans to upgrade the State’s railway lines with a RM363 million allocation from both the State and Federal governments.

(fyi beaufort is a small town in sabah normally only used by tourists on their way to the white-water rafting on nearby sungai padas) i am not sure if the mee can be found in kl or not..

If you choose to travel by bus or train, you have to change buses at Tenom town which is about 15 km from Taman Pertanian Sabah.
If you are rushing for times, you can follow the earliest Railcar service From Beaufort at 6.30 am and reach Tenom by 8.30 am (but of course you have to drive early to get to Beaufort in time).

 Day 117 - Brunei to Beaufort, Sabah
Managed to get a local bus to Merapok on the border between Sarawak and Sabah, where in the middle of nowhere we hopped straight onto a minivan to Sipitang where with perfect timing an express bus was leaving to Beaufort.
Later we went to the aptly named Beaufort Club where we joined in Karaoke with the locals and Louisa ordered a bottle of wine for RM18 which turned out to be RM80!

According to an article I read in the Berita Muzium which gets their sources from a newspaper called Berita Brunei April and July 1958, the name was derived from an old battle which happened in Padas, Weston in Beaufort, Sabah.
During the North Borneo Chartered Company days which then already controlled parts of North Borneo (Sabah), the Company wanted to own all the lands in Sabah including Padas which at that time still was still governed by the Brunei Sultan under the leadership of a Brunei noble named Pengiran Shahbandar Hassan.
The British eventually took over the area and renamed the whole area as Beaufort in 1895 after Governor Beaufort who was the British Governor based in Labuan then.
