Was a 1 mile cut in Somerset from the River Brue to the North Drain.
Some of the river was made navigable around 1638, improvements authorised by Act of 1699 and 1707.

There was a wharf at Beaulieu on the Abbey side of the bridge from the early 13th century.
It was created in the early 18th century by the 2nd Duke of Montagu, who planned to build a free port on the banks of the Beaulieu River for the import and export of sugar from the West Indies.

Beaulieu who along with Mainse and Dawson got their start with the speedway driving school went into the night 31 points back of the retired air force member then climbed a little closer after collecting fast time then slipped back after his heat race setting up what would be a championship deciding main event.
Beaulieu almost had his chances for the championship ended early when a gas leak brought out a yellow flag on the 12th lap sending him into the pits for quick repairs and back on the track at the back of the field without missing any laps.
Jason Beaulieu took to the outside groove reminisecent of his uncle Martin who has won countless races with passes on the outside which is just what the youngest Beaulieu did in passing Gorosh for the lead on the final lap to grab the win.

Beaulieu Abbey was built by lay brothers and hired craftsmen to a uniform plan, based on the parent abbey at Citeaux.
Overland travel was slow and expensive, so the monks made use of the Beaulieu River to transport their building materials.

Follow the Beaulieu River up to Buckler's Hard, ignore the very expensive marina, and ask the harbourmaster for a position on the piles, great for improving boat handling skills.
The riverside walk through the woods to Beaulieu village is a great favourite, especially with the promise of a real icecream on arrival.
Beaulieu village also has a pub where you can get a meal (eaten outside if you want to fight off the donkies) and the garden centre (which keeps the wife happy) has a cafe that serves delicious, home made cakes.

At rapid 17 all the river water seems to be drawn to two tree stumps two meters apart in the worst part of the rapid.
