He picked her Aussie accent and this man began talking about all sorts of things Australian, and then was talking about the Beaumont case, and was really saying that he believes that he knew, from some years back, that these children had been living in Dunedin in New Zealand.
Now though police are now investigating reports a man walked into a butcher shop in New Plymouth and spoke to the assistant about the children's whereabouts, and how they'd lived in New Zealand for years.
NANCE HAXTON: However, police at New Plymouth, half way between Wellington and Auckland on New Zealand's North Island, are investigating a possible new development in the case.

Recently a butcher's shop assistant in New Plymouth, on New Zealand's North Island, told police a male customer had told her in the 1960s he lived in Dunedin near the Beaumont children.
New Zealand police believe they may have a lead on the identity of a man who says he lived near Australia's Beaumont children, who have been missing for almost 40 years.
The Beaumont children - Jane, 9, Arnna, 7, and Grant, 4, - disappeared after a trip to an Adelaide beach on Australia Day in January 1966.
