Beautifulgarbage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The initial letter is capitalized due to technical restrictions.
beautifulgarbage is the 3rd album by the band Garbage, released on October 2, 2001.
The album is notable because it presents a more produced sound than the band's previous works and more self-reflective lyrics from singer-songwriter Shirley Manson.

 Garbage 'beautifulgarbage'
Now with their third long-player, 'beautifulgarbage' - a title that begs to have an '@' tagged on the end - Shirley Manson and Co are once again pursuing the hi-tech stylings that characterised 'Version 2.0'.
'beautifulgarbage' takes this philosophy up a level by moving away from the relatively straightforward rock of the first two records and applying their chrome-and-steel stylings to more organic, soulful forms.
With 'beautifulgarbage' Manson and her fellow alchemists combine the technology at their fingertips with imagination and - most importantly - restraint, to confirm their status as pioneers on the pinnacle of modern rock.

 Daily Vault - June 18, 2003
So, when Beautifulgarbage was released in 2001, it didn't initially set well with me. But, I remembered how Version 2.0 grew with each listen, so I went easy on their 2001 release.
And for the majority of Beautifulgarbage, it seemed like the band was so conscious of fitting in on radio that it forgot their most appealing asset: making really, really good pop and rock songs.
The best songs on Beautifulgarbage are the ones where it seems that the band ignores the pressure to create a hit single and deconstruct the traditional pop song formula.

Kung Fu Rodeo : CD Review: Garbage: Bleed Like Me
Beautifulgarbage is an admittedly flawed album; but when a single like “Cherry Lips (Go Baby, Go)” fails to inspire the planet’s youth to put on their dancing shoes, something is profoundly wrong with the world.
Thankfully, the commercial tragedy of Beautifulgarbage wasn’t enough to send the band packing with their tails between their legs for too long, as they’ve returned with a new full length album —; their fourth in ten years — Bleed Like Me. The placement of their tails, however, remains somewhat in question.
Louder than Beautifulgarbage but not as loud as Garbage; “live-er” than Version 2.0, but not as epic, Bleed Like Me is a bittersweet sonic portrait of a band who once made a name for themselves by cleverly combining the leftovers of their favorite genres now, for better or for worse, combining the leftovers of themselves.

The band's appeal is largely due to the appeal of their lead singer, the intoxicating vocal presence of Shirley Manson.
With Beautifulgarbage, Manson and crew manage once again to craft sexy, sophisticated melodies that are experimental yet quintessential.
Overall, though, Beautifulgarbage is a sweet victory for Garbage fans everywhere.

 HYBRIDMAGAZINE.COM | REVIEWS | Garbage - Beautifulgarbage
Truth is, the rest of the album grates as well, mostly due to synth effects that manage to distract and cheapen many of the album’s thirteen tracks.
Roughly half of this album is a full-on, synth-driven sugar pop album, while the rest hints at their strength for solid, darker pop, such as the excellent "Parade", perhaps the strongest cut on the record.
And lyrically, beautifulgarbage is a bit of a revelation in spots, which is what makes the music itself so infuriating.

beautifulgarbage, the third album from Madison's finest, is equal parts of both words in its title, though perhaps beautifulgarbageoccasionalfiller would have been more appropriate.
For every two killer tracks, and there are some killer tracks, there is one that never would have seen the light of day on either of the previous Garbage albums.
If there is a disconcerting trend with Garbage albums, it's the band's tendency to rewrite its own songs, and beautifulgarbage has a couple of them.

It may not be ground-breaking stuff, but beautifulgarbage is this band doing what they do best, and doing it well.
I know alot of people were disappointed with this album as a whole, because it seemed such a change from what people knew as 'Garbage'.
BeautifulGarbage just shows the group maturing and this isn't a bad thing at all,the album gives the listner high quality music and you can actually see that the lyrics have been thought about; they actually are written to get across a certain message, a certain feeling, thought or mood.

UKMIX - Articles - Garbage - How Their "BeautifulGarbage" Was Wasted
It took until late September 2002, three long years later, for the band to acheive their next UK top 20 single, which came in the form of an ultra-limited release of single "Shut Your Mouth", which was the final single and also the opening track to their "Version 2.0" follow up record "BeautifulGarbage".
After the end of the year the band regrouped in their studios in Madison, Wisconsin and have began writing material for their fourth record, due out at the end of the year.
Wether the record is doomed to "pre-determined failure", like "BeautifulGarbage", is unknown, but the pressure on the group is on.

CLUAS Indie Album Reviews: Garbage 'Beautifulgarbage'
'Beautifulgarbage' opens with the thrashy 'Shut Your Mouth', then 'Androgyny' - after starting out as a Backstreet Boys video - suddenly sways back and forth, and catchy to boot.
And it's here that the main theme is revealed - yes, it's back to the days of Stock Aitken Waterman, tinny (but very well produced!) tunes and shallow lyrics (something Shirley Manson is pretty good at, love her as we do).
Like the decade it's based on, beautifulgarbage isn't disposable at all like I thought.

Beautifulgarbage (tour) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beginning in October 2001 and lasting until November 2002, rock group Garbage completed a world tour in support of their third studio album beautifulgarbage.
After the dismal sales of beautifulgarbage the band were comforted in the fact that, night after night, their shows sold out and that audiences were still eager to see them perform live, and that their hard-core fans had stuck by them.
During the tour however various ailments almost brought the trek to an end on several occasions.

 Garbage: Beautifulgarbage (2001): Reviews
beautifulgarbage is the type of artistic endeavor that succeeds admirably.
It sees Garbage completely revel in the pop sound, and because there is meaning behind it, it blows regular pop artists out of the water.
And I'm sorry, but Garbage can never be interchangable, each song on here sounds distinct from the others; I'm not exactly sure how you could confuse "Androgyny" for "Cherry Lips".

 Interview with Garbage (NY Rock)
So far, Beautifulgarbage is the closest thing to pop that Garbage has created.
But, unfortunately, in the U.S. the term "pop" is used to describe bubble-gum acts like the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears and we don't really want to play in that league, if you know what I mean.
I was really upset, but you know I quite like Amnesiac and I admire them for doing it and for not giving a shit about all the "biggest rock band of the world" bullshit.

Pretty much sums up beautifulgarbage, the been-there-done-that third CD from electro-pop darlings Garbage.
The 13-track beautifulgarbage, unfortunately, continues that downward spiral of diminishing returns.
It's not that all the songs are bad - Shut Your Mouth has funktronic, Brassy-style hip-hop grooves; Untouchable has a catchy scritch-scratch chorus; Till The Day I Die, Silence is Golden and Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go) and Breaking Up the Girl are pop as crunchy-sweet as a candy apple.

 RECORDING GARBAGE
With their recent third album beautifulgarbage, therefore, they say they've returned to the fundamental ingredients of rock and pop music: the songs, and the chemistry between band members playing together.
Like both of their previous albums, beautifulgarbage was recorded at the band's Smart Studio in Madison, Wisconsin; and like Version 2.0 it was engineered by Billy Bush.
The band's approach to recording guitars is equally distinctive, and beautifulgarbage sees distorted crunches cheek-by-jowl with delicate acoustics and treated sounds which are almost unrecognisable.

BeautifulGarbage is the newest album by the seminal proto-pop band Garbage, their third album to date.
Garbage scoffed at all the critics with an excellent sophomore album, "Version2.0" and has continued sowing a great fanbase, largely because of the undeniable sexiness of front woman Shirley Manson, also of Angelfish.
beautifulgarbage starts with a bang: Songs "Shut Your Mouth" and "Androgyny" tackle the ears like an ocular dominatrix.

While their self-titled debut was largely a collection of rough and jagged alternative-rock songs, its follow-up, "Version 2.0", featured a more polished, toned-down pop sound and more ballads.
Although it would be easy to assume that this diverse range of styles would create a fragmented patchwork of songs, the production brilliance of Vig, Marker and Erikson ensures that the album flows seamlessly between tracks.
But "Beautifulgarbage" is more than just a perfectly polished record — like U2’s "All that you can’t leave behind" it is a rare collection of intelligent pop songs in a market overflowing with uninspired garbage.

REAL GROOVY COMMENTS beautifulgarbage is the third album from Garbage; thirteen songs that constitute the band's most extreme work to date; a record that is at once more melodic and more emotional than before, dirtier and clearer.
In it's broad span of styles, beautifulgarbage echoes everything from Prince to the Stones, Parallel Lines-era Blondie to Phil Spector, the Velvets to TLC.
Songs like 'Shut Your Mouth', 'Androgyny' and 'Untouchable' mate the bold strokes of high street pop and hip-hop with abrasive rhythm guitar and eerie treatments.
