  Beaver Management
Beaver parents are quite protective of their young, and the kits often stay with the parents for two years, after which they disperse to find their own territories.
The beavers we see in the mainstem of the Chena River, which appears to be impossible to dam, are probably either dispersing young who have not yet found a territory, or adult males that have moved from their home lodges while kits are young.
Beaver populations have rebounded throughout North America, and beavers often conflict with humans because their dams create ponds that flood roads and trees, and because they cut down and eat trees that humans prefer to be left standing.

Beaver Sealing: Why Do We Still Do It?, Alaska Department of Fish and Game
In fact, in many areas of the east and southeast, beaver have become a serious nuisance and populations are difficult to control because of a lack of trapping interest, excellent habitat in urban areas closed to trapping, low prices, and restrictions on the use of particular traps.
In many states more beaver are presently taken as nuisance animals in the “off season” and discarded, than pelted as valuable furbearers during the “in season.” In Vermont, nuisance beaver taken out of season used to be tagged with a different colored seal than beavers taken when prime during the trapping season.
For Alaska, the regulation established in 1926 that required all raw beaver pelts to be sealed to protect the low number of beaver at the time, is no longer necessary because of abundant populations statewide and present-day light trapping pressure.
