Beaver Island State Park has a 3 mile nature trail (and XC skiing in winter) and a half-mile sandy beach (for swimming) which might attract shorebirds early in the morning or out of swimming season.
Currently, the park is undergoing restoration to re-establish wetland cover and water levels and increase the diversity of native flora and fauna.

State Parks will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to identify a concessionaire who would invest a minimum of $1.5 million in matching funds for the construction of this new facility.
Once the facility is constructed by the State, the selected bidder will be responsible for all operations, upkeep, interior maintenance and repair, insurance, utilities and trash removal on a year-round basis.
Beaver Island State Park, established in 1935, is located nine miles north of Buffalo.
