The Beaver River in northern Ontario is a tributary of the Severn River which empties into Hudson Bay.
The Beaver River in southern Ontario flows from the Niagara Escarpment to empty into Nottawasaga Bay, an inlet of Georgian Bay, at Thornbury, Ontario.
The Beaver Valley is a deep wedge on the western side of the escrarpment, formed by a much larger ancestor of this river.

In the lower reaches near the Ohio the river cuts through a gorge of underlying sandstone.

We did not realize that the dam was on private property since it is across a road way from houses.
And the river runs pretty much along the road way and there were not any "No Tresspassing" signs posted or any comments about it on the Bruce County Paddling Map.
