The boy, the youngest Montana victim of the disease so far, was hospitalized for two days in mid- to late June and has since fully recovered, said Jim Murphy, communicable disease surveillance officer with the Department of Public Health and Human Services.
This is the 25th case of the sometimes fatal disease in Montana since it was first identified in the state in 1993.
Cascade and Beaverhead counties have had the greatest incidence of the disease, with four cases each.

In July 1995, BLM Director Dombeck recognized the Beaverhead County Commissioners with a "Health of the Land" award for their collaborative approach to land management issues.
The Montana Concensus Council, a dispute resolution agency of state government, sees the MOU as exemplary and has organized a group of county citizens in a parallel effort to articulate their views on the future of the county.
In July 1999, the participating agencies and Beaverhead County, made a few changes to the MOU's wording, and renewed it until September 30, 2001.

The Saginaw mine is listed as a sub-district of the Beaverhead or Bloody Dick districts in the Jackson section by the Montana Mine Index.
The mine produced red and brown jasper ore. When the dump was inspected, the jasper was seen to be veined and stained by malachite, chrysocolla and other secondary copper minerals (Geach 1972).
The Saginaw mine is listed in the Montana Mine Index from 1914 to 1917; it had earlier been discussed in the mining literature in 1903 and then again in 1916.
