Nana Asare Bediako, a businessman who is accused of defrauding two people of 4,500 US dollars under the pretext of securing US visas for their children, was on Thursday arraigned before a circuit tribunal in Accra.
Bediako pleaded not guilty to defrauding by false pretences and was granted bail in the sum of 20 million cedis with a surety to be justified.
Bediako told Nana Broni that he was residing in America and, therefore, could easily use that as an advantage to procure the travelling documents for him.

She said Dr Asare, Father Benson, the secretary and Mr Akuamoah were at the Police Station the next day with press photographers and took pictures of them, which were published in the national newspapers.
Dr Asare spoke of stealing of food items to the hospital, and confirmed a check on the staff, but said no soldier was involved in the search, but rather by members of then workplace Workers Defence Committee.

The chairman of the commission, Mr T. Bediako, said the public sittings were not sessions for answering questions but to hear the “peoples’ voice” for the commission to be in a better position to determine the way forward.
Mr Bediako said the commission had its first meeting on August 1, 2004 and had since had preliminary meetings with organised labour, the employers association, the media and other interested groups.He said the commission had received memoranda from various stakeholders and interested parties.
Mr Asare further suggested the introduction of unemployment benefit for retrenched workers in view of the lack of employment opportunities in the country.

Accra (Greater Accra) 21 November 2001 - Dr Joseph Bediako Asare, Chief Psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health, on Tuesday called for financial support to enable psychiatrists to treat mental health patients with modern drugs, which are expensive but efficacious with fewer side effects.
Giving an overview of mental health in the country, Dr Asare said health institutions received a total of 64,000 outpatients and 6,499 admissions last year.
Dr Asare talked about constraints to effective health care, saying the poor facilities at the psychiatric hospitals did not encourage recruitment of doctors for training and undermined the calibre and expertise of professionals working there.
