Save Upstate New York is a citizens group that says it works toward the education of individuals and authorities concerning the effects of wind power on a community and residents.

PLATTSBURGH — Beekmantown exploded for seven runs in the top of the ninth and then held on for a 19-13 win over Saranac in the Section VII Class B baseball final at Chip Cummings Field Thursday afternoon.
Beekmantown hit the ball extremely hard in the final frame, scoring seven runs on four hits and was also helped by a pair of walks as well as three costly Saranac errors.
Once again, Beekmantown was led by Adam Brown, who reached base four times, with a triple and a single, and knocked in four runs.

Nathaniel G. Spalding was born in Beekmantown, New York, in 1826 and graduated from Union College in 1852.
The new "Castleton Cut-Off" bridge (Figure 11) was soon constructed high above Upper Schodack Island, and it enabled freight trains to avoid the West Albany "hill." It was named for Alfred Holland Smith, the President of the New York Central Railroad when the bridge was planned and under construction.
The map of New York published in 1779 shows the Muitzeskill as "Middle Kill," now with two buildings on its north side east of the river and west of the road along the river (Sauthier 1779).

THE BEEKMANTOWN Formation was proposed (Clarke and Schuchert, 1899) to replace Brainerd and seely's (1890) Calciferous Formation, a dolostone and limestone-dominated interval on the carbonate platform of eastern New York and western Vermont.
The Beekmantown is underlain by sandstones of the upper Middle-lower Upper Cambrian Potsdam Formation and overlain by upper Middle Ordovician Chazy Group limestones.
The term "Beekmantown" is appropriate for use as a group-level lithostratigraphic unit in eastern Laurentia (e.g., Fisher, 1968; Bernstein, 1992).

 Point Au Roche Lighthouse
In 1858 the Lighthouse Board constructed another of the "Three Sisters", an octagonal tower of blue limestone block on the New York shore opposite La Roche Reef, suth of Isle La Motte.
When the light was moved to a buoy on La Roche Reef, the Coast Guard abandoned the last of the lake's historic lights, acquired when it took over the lighthouse service in 1939.
Declared surplus, the General Services Administration is seeking to transfer it to the Town of Beekmantown, which has expressed interest in preservation of this structure as its oldest monument.
