  CastleXplorer - Beeston Castle
Beeston had no keep, instead small towers projected from the walls which allowed defenders to fire across the faces of the walls.
King Henry mainly used Beeston as a base to assemble troops and supplies for his campaigns against the Welsh, and as a place to keep prisoners and hostages.
It was acquired by a local landowner, Sir Hugh Beeston of Beeston Hall, who allowed some of the poorer members of his family to live in part of the castle and use the land for farming.

It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence has to confirm that Fusilier Russell Beeston was fatally wounded during an incident at Ali As Sharqi on 27 August 2003.
Fusilier Beeston was aged 26 and was a Territorial Army soldier in 52nd Lowland Regiment (Volunteers), serving attached to the 1st Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers in Iraq.

Introduced in 1896 the Beeston tricycle was manufactured by Beeston cycle works in Nottingham (UK).
Powered by a 400cc engine the Beeston tricycle was the only motorcycle / tricycle to make it from London to Brighton in the 1896 Emancipation Day Run to celebrate the raising of the speed limit to 12mph.
The Motette was a "car version" of th tricycle and was powered by a 1.5 hp "Electric Spark Motor", this being: "a petrol motor developing from 0.7 to 1.5 horse power, the charge in which is ignited by an electric spark." This had three speeds of 5, 15 and 20 mph.
