Beetham Tower, Manchester is a skyscraper completed in 2006 in Manchester, the Second City of the United Kingdom.
The tower is one of the tallest residential towers in Europe, exceeded only by the Triumph-Palace in Moscow (264 metres) and the Turning Torso in Malmö (190 metres).

Beetham Tower, Birmingham is a 122 metre (400 feet) tall skyscraper completed in 2006 in Birmingham city centre, United Kingdom.
The plans for the building were first revealed in 1998 as part of a competition in which designs for a tower acting as a gateway to the city were to be submitted to the council and also for a building that could aid the regeneration plans in and around the area.

The tower which is set to be 219.3m metres tall above ground level and reach 68 storeys, will contain the traditional Beetham mix of a hotel and on the upper floors 220 flats.
The scale of their building, substantially larger than previously built ones around the country, is to try and avoid problems of the towers being unable to fill demand and as the case of Liverpool shows an almost immediate need for a second one to meet it.

I live in Manchester and have watched the Beetham tower grow from the foundations upwards, I have worked all over the UK and have never seen a modern building that generates so much interest.
I have been watching the Birmingham Beetham Tower grow though only taken a few pictures - it is now near completion.

The proposed 740ft skyscraper by Blackfriars Bridge has been praised by CABE as a "bold addition to London's skyline", but Westminster City Council is preparing to object to the scheme.
CABE expressed concern about the £500 million building’s configuration of family housing, and suggested that there are "weaknesses in the streets and spaces in and around the development", such as the large overhang proposed at the junction of Stamford Street and Blackfriars Road.
