Beetlejuice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beetlejuice is a film directed by Tim Burton, first released in the USA on March 30, 1988, and produced by The Geffen Film Company for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Beetlejuice seems to be inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialist novel Les jeux sont faits (1952), which prominently features death as meaningless bureaucracy, albeit presented in a much less morbid fashion.
Beetlejuice had a cast of wacky neighbors including Jacques, a French skeleton fitness buff; Ginger, a tap-dancing spider; The Monster across the Street, a boisterous Texas redneck; and a nasty clown named Scuzzo, who is his arch-nemesis.

Lester Green (born June 2, 1968, in Browns Mills, New Jersey), known as Beetlejuice, is primarily known for his appearances on the Howard Stern Show and is arguably the most popular member of The Wack Pack.
His stage name derives from the 1988 Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice, in which a person in the afterlife had a shrunken head.
The name originated from taunting Beetlejuice experienced at the hands of neighborhood bullies growing up in the housing projects of Jersey City, New Jersey.

 DVD Verdict Review - Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice doesn't necessarily fit easily into the mold for the typical Tim Burton film, or into the mold for the typical film for any director, for that matter.
The only real thread to the story is that a recently deceased couple wants to drive away the new family that has moved into their house, and even that's a moot point by the end of the movie.
I can't confirm this anywhere, but Beetlejuice is one of two films that I know of that have the family-friendly PG rating and also include a use of the "f-word." The other is Tom Hanks' Big, which was also released in 1988.

Beetlejuice is an excellent example of how a score can work wonders in a film, yet sound empty and hollow on its own.
Another noteworthy track is "The Fly" which takes place during a scene in which the title character baits a giant fly (actually, he's just tiny like the fly) into a trap with a candy bar and I smirk whenever I hear the track and think about the film.

The film and its characters are basically excuses to spring one-liner after one-liner and sight gag after sight gag, (which would have been a problem for the film had they fallen flat) all wrapped up in a strange yet enormously entertaining package.
The exquisite make-up work on the character could have very easily intimidated another actor into delivering a dialed-down performance, however Keaton went all out for the role, and amazingly it's his persona and not the make-up effects that leave the biggest impression on the audience.
Over 15 years after its release, Tim Burton's Beetlejuice remains a revered comedy classic and an important film in the career of a young filmmaker who was only beginning to wow us with his distinct way of looking at life (...or the after-life) and making films.
