		By contrast, Before And After Science is austere and restrained, an enigma in a deceptively engaging skin.
		On Before And After Science, the gaiety is given a sketchy, restless treatment, and the melancholy predominates.

		After the desolate "Fat Lady of Limbourg", one begins to notice the drum machines carrying too much weight, and for an artist so concerned with the future commonality of today's novelties, it's hard to reconcile Eno's reliance on these sounds.
		Recorded after Eno's immersion in David Bowie's world, Before and After Science is a slick, somehow flat album that, in damning retrospect, resonates as a precursor to what Eno would try to shape the Talking Heads into: white people playing African pop music.
		Before and After Science is the neutered star in search of fuel, boasting only "King's Lead Hat" for the pop world, and the luminous pure prog-jazz of "Energy Fools the Magician" for the out-rock contingent (Cluster contributed synths and pianos to much of the record; Eno would release stronger material with the group soon after).

		Brian Eno's "Before and After Science", his last song-based album until the about-to-be-released (June, 2005) "Another Day on Earth" is in many ways the album you would hope it would be, reflective of his past, pointing in some ways to the future, very much texture-oriented music.
		BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE is one of his very finest albums.
		Although BEFORE AND AFTER SCIENCE was Eno's fourth (and up to the present, last-one fears that he may never attempt another) vocal album, it is possibly his most pop oriented.

		After reading all the other reviewers intellectual drivel I thought I would just say that if you have never heard a brian eno record then this is a great place to start.
		And although all are superb, Before and After Science is the best, Enos penchant for exotic instrumentation and unique textures and rhythms allied to a forensic ear for melody was never better demonstrated than on this album.
		Though "Before and After Science" is hugely overshadowed by the originality and cultural importance of "Another Green World", it is an album I personally prefer.

		Heck, Eno's Before and After Scienc (1977) is certainly worth keeping in several formats in your collection.
		After creating classic avant-pop records Here Come the Warm Jets (1974), Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) (1974) and Another Green World (1975), Eno began to write ambient music almost exclusively on Discreet Music (1975).
		On Before and After Science, he mixes his pop tendencies with ambience in the creation of arguably his best record.

		What does occur on Before And After Science is a kind of “turning inside-out” of the music, at least on the first half of the record, which results in what could be viewed as an exoskeletal version of Another Green World or a Taking Tiger Mountain without the baroque arrangements.
		However, filing this under Another Green World II misses the point that Science is a culmination of styles, not a refinement of one album.
		Before this album, Eno could be counted on for some demented (and some lovely) tunesmithing; after this album, the deluge of silence in deference to his art.

		I accidentally voted this as my favourite in the forum as I recalled some of the finest songs being here, but there are also some less enjoyable tracks, and when it comes to the short, sound experimentative instrumental beauties, AGW offers much better stuff.
