Brand X : Unorthodox Behaviour - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Unorthodox Behaviour sets the stage for what would follow: music that plies the same sonic territory as Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and the like, punctuated by the distinctive styles of individual members.
Unorthodox Behaviour samples a variety of styles: from melodic to energetic, ethereal to mathematical.
Those interested in the band may do well to start with this album, although their next three records are just as good in terms of quality.

Behaviour (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Behaviour is the fifth album, the fourth of entirely new music, by the UK electronic music group Pet Shop Boys.
It is stylistically similar to neither the previous album, Introspective, nor Very, which would follow it in 1993.
Behaviour was rereleased in 2001 (as were most of the group's albums up to that point) as Behaviour/Further Listening 1990-1991.

They began work on Behaviour, which would turn out to be their most moody and contemplative album yet, with a fairly straightforward sense of purpose.
However, they were still resolved to release an album which sounded consistent, and made the final song selection with that in mind, at the last minute removing 'Miserablism' and replacing it with 'The end of the world'.
The album was made just after the Berlin Wall came down, someone looking back on communism, having a dream about it after it finished.

Very (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Very is the seventh album, the fifth of entirely new music, by the UK electronic music group Pet Shop Boys.
The content and lyrics led to Very being called their "coming out album" since, despite widespread rumours almost a decade, it was during this time that Neil Tennant had publicly announced his homosexuality.
Very was rereleased in 2001 (as were most of the group's albums up to that point) as Very/Further Listening 1992-1994.

Debut (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Debut, released in July of 1993, is a dance music album by Icelandic singer/songwriter/musician Björk.
It was her first solo project after leaving The Sugarcubes, but far from her actual debut, which was released in 1977.
Sonically, the album was a mix of dance beat-driven pop ("Violently Happy", "Big Time Sensuality", "There's More to Life Than This"), earthy, new age ("One Day", "The Anchor Song", "Aeroplane", "Human Behaviour"), and seductive rhythm based songs ("Venus as a Boy", "Come to Me").

But although this was far from her real debut as a singer and musician, having released her very first solo album at the age of 11, she set the title to Debut to signify a start of something brand new.
The matter of a proposed forthcoming album of remixes of Debut is causing some friction between the singer and her record company.
For me, all the songs on the album are like saying, 'Listen, this is how I'm doing,' and that's why I calle dthe record 'Post', because I always address my songs back in my head to Iceland in a letter.

 Laurent Garnier: Unreasonable Behaviour (Mute)
Following on from the direction he began to explore with his album 30 in 1996, this latest album, is very much a more personal exploration of electronic music and finds equal meaning both on and off the dance floor.
In October 1994, he released his first album Shot in the Dark and subsequently became one of the first French artists to be invited to perform on the prestigious Peel Sessions, broadcast on BBC Radio 1.
The release of his second album 30 was another turning point in Laurent Garnier's career.

One of the things that Behaviour has that is lacking in the previous work of the Pet Shop Boys (and in much of the pop music of the 1980s generally) is maturity.
Other songs from the album that were released as singles, and every single released since, has failed to make progress of any significance in the charts.
Well, I know everyone says this is their best album, but it is. They wouldn't like me for saying it but it's more rock than disco.

Amazon.co.uk: Behaviour [Enhanced] [Limited Edition]: Music   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Behaviour marks a bit of a departure--or, more appropriately, an evolution--in style for the Pet Shop Boys, whose previous albums are largely comprised of hungry and often slightly seedy songs with a high emphasis production-wise on the band's beloved club roots.
The album's only real downer comes in the pompous shape of "My October Symphony", a wincingly pretentious thing which suggests the band have fallen prey to the kind of po-faced muso nonsense they poke fun at in "How Can You Expect To Be Taken Seriously".
Behaviour is possibly the best album for fans of Neil and Chris' more circumspect outpourings; what it lacks in upbeat anthems and disco production it more than makes up for in intelligent, introspective song writing.

The album right after Behaviour was REALLY bad and I consider it their worst.
The album should have ended with a bang with the great instrumental at the end of the song Fantastically Wrong, instead of the whimper that it did end with with the song Pleasure And The Pain.

Behavior and Discography   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
It has acquired the reputation of being the Pet Shop Boys' "downer" album: it has more slow and mid-tempo tracks than any of their other albums (with the possible exception, more than a decade later, of Release), and many of the songs have decidedly somber lyrical themes.
Just as the album version of "How Can You Expect to Be Taken Seriously" had borrowed heavily from the contemporary style of Bobby Brown, now came a song that owed so much stylistically to Stock, Aitken, and Waterman that it borders on parody.
Although this is the closing track on Behaviour, it in fact dates back several years to before the Actually album, which was originally slated to be titled Jealousy and was to include an early version of this song.

This is the Dreadnaught’s fourth album, and is an all-instrumental affair.
As there has been a six-year gap between albums (A Myth was released in 1998), we can assume that these musicians are not afraid to allow time for their ideas to develop, and this is reflected in the eight mature and fully formed compositions that comprise Gappa.

DPRP : Counting Out Time : Saga - Generation 13
Generation 13 is one of their stronger albums in that it revitalised the band, preparing them for the entry into the new millennium.
Jeremy is an obvious 13-er and the album depicts his inner turmoil and some of the external reasons for it.
Following this (maybe not quite as qualified) album, the band more or less returned to the sound of their early albums, combining it with some of the heavier and darker elements of Generation 13, on the albums Full Circle (1999) and House Of Cards (2001).

Simple basslines, as in the hammering and hypnotic "Sure Thing," will likely bore those looking for something with more hooks, but there's an otherworldly air that manages to revamp the subtly pitched, Ian Pooley-styled beats and squirty electro-trance sound harassment.
The result is a texturally rich artist album, if obviously overlong.

Laurent Garnier - The Cloud Making Machine - Review
Described as some as his cinematic album, it certainly is another step forward in terms of his sound output, and a far cry from his earlier works like 30, which mainly worked a techno theme (with occasionally brilliant results).
If that megamix was a true overview of his different musical likes and influences, then this newest album is finally the release that tries to pull all of those different styles together under the guise of an actual album.
In fact, the album opens with a bit of severe noodling on "The Cloud Making Machine Part 1" as it opens with squiggled voice samples before moving into a semi-wanky keyboard solo section that plays out over sweeping synth strings and filtered crackles.

Strange behaviour indeed for a band to release a 2 CD live album after only 3 studio albums, but this album is justified in that it offers far superior interpretations of songs from those albums plus two brand new tracks added for good measure.

The last studio album Garnier released under his own moniker was 2000’s Unreasonable Behaviour which was met with generally favourable reviews upon its release because of its distinctive and brooding take on Detroit-style techno.
In fact the only real disappointing tracks on the album are the two tunes that mirror the title of the album and betray the album’s beginnings as a soundtrack by being just a tad wishy-washy.
